Robert
E. Mier has been painting professionally for 40 years and regularly
exhibits his works in major art shows in Florida year-round.
He works exclusively in acrylics as he expresses his love for
the wildlife
and landscapes of his adopted state of Florida. A resident
of Central Florida since 1952, Mier has traveled the many waterways
of the region by canoe, photographing its unique flora and fauna
for inspiration for his diverse works.
Mier
exhibits his paintings
and prints year-round in public and private art shows, galleries,
festivals and museum shows. Those works include realistic and
impressionistic portraits of wildlife, native birds and animals,
landscapes and seascapes. A few of the organizations that own
original Mier works are the Orlando International Airport, the
City of Ponce Inlet, TM Ranch, and the City of Vero Beach, as
well as numerous private collectors. His works have been exhibited
at Orlando City Hall and the Osceola Art Museum; he has won
numerous awards for his paintings, most recently “Best
of Show” at the Crystal River Manatee Festival in January,
2006.
Mier is
a graduate of Barry University and the Commercial Art Program
at Orlando Vocational Tech; as a high school student, he won
two awards in the very first Winter Park Art Festival over 40
years ago. Robert also served in the U.S. Navy and for many
years was a mental health counselor in Central Florida. Today
he is a full-time wildlife
artist who exhibits at more than 35 shows and does several
private commissions a year. He lives with his wife, two horses
and other pets on a ranch in Seminole County, Florida.
